MAY DISAPPOINTED, SHOCKED BY PARTY’S POOR SHOWING

Elizabeth May, shown, one of only two Green party members confirmed to have won a seat in Monday’s federal election, said she had concerns about the organization of the Green campaign. “I want to know how we failed to have a full slate (of candidates). It was a shock to me.” The party’s leader, Annamie Paul, failed to win her Toronto riding and the only other Green incumbent, Paul Manly, is still locked in a tight race with the Conservative and NDP candidates in his riding of Nanaimo-ladysmith, B.C. Officials there are counting the special ballots. The party did make a breakthrough in Ontario, picking up Kitchener Centre after the incumbent Liberal withdrew. May, who won re-election in Saanich-gulf Islands, said the loss for Paul was a disappointment.
