OFF THE TOP EMMY RATINGS UP FROM 2020 SHOW

Sunday’s Emmy Awards on CBS fared better than last year’s ceremony, according to Deadline. A total of 7.4 million viewers tuned in to the event, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer. It was a 16 per cent jump from the 2020 show, which only drew 6.4 million viewers and was an all-time low. Those numbers only take into account the linear broadcast — the DVR or Paramount+ streaming numbers haven’t yet been released. Plus, this year’s broadcast on CBS was still down 34 per cent from the last time the network hosted the ceremony in 2017. Sunday’s show was the third-least-watched ceremony, behind 2020 and 2019. The 2018 Emmys aired on NBC and brought in 10.2 million viewers, New York Post reports, while Fox’s 2019 show grabbed 6.9 million viewers total.
