With the demand for rental properties so high right now, the arrival of VIU2 in downtown Gatineau couldn't have come at a better time.

Located in a prime location just across the street from Jacques-Cartier Park, the marina and Parliament Hill, the 24-storey building will feature 159 rental units on its first 18 floors and promoters of the project promise an “all-inclusive” lifestyle that will set it apart from its competitors.

“With all the amenities we offer, we believe we have everything for people to live securely, safely and happily in VIU2,” said Catherine Miron, marketing director for The Heafey Group, the real estate investment company backing the project. Over the past 30 years, the firm has built up a portfolio of exceptional properties in Canada and the United States, including VIU, a sister building to VIU2 that sits right next door.

As for the all-inclusive amenities of VIU2, Miron ticked off a long list of addons that come with each unit, including five appliances (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer), electricity, air conditioning and even free wi-fi. Another unique feature is VIU2's use of the 1VALET smart building system, which controls access to the front door using facial recognition while also providing a host of other amazing smartphone-centric features

that simplify the lives of residents.

Built to exacting LEED specifications, VIU2 is a green building with a number of charging station based on demand for electric vehicles, and a sufficient number of parking spaces for all tenants. As for biking enthusiasts, there's even a repair station for minor bicycle repair. And speaking of staying in shape, VIU2

will have an outdoor pool, a 1,200-square-foot gym and a yoga room that faces the pool.

With the trend of working from home not going away any time soon, VIU2 will also

provide a co-working space

with private, sound-proof cubicles where professionals can have meetings or get their daily work done in a shared, business-like environment. When you need a break, you'll be able to stop at a café that will be located on the building's ground floor.

For pet owners, there's even an indoor area where you can take your dog when nature calls, along with a station where you can clean them.

As for the units themselves, there are 11 different models to choose from, all with spectacular views, hence the building name: VIU2 (pronounced view

two). Some look out across the Ottawa River towards the Parliament Buildings, while others let you watch

the sun set over the Gatineau Hills. Most units feature a balcony that runs the full length of the apartment, providing a great outdoor space to relax or entertain while enjoying those views.

The one- and two-bedroom apartments in VIU2 range in size from 688 to 1,111 square feet and a model unit will be ready to visit in September. Miron expects the first occupancies to be in March 2022.
