Wannabe plastic surgeons face murder rap

KEVIN CONNOR

A mother and daughter in Los Angeles are facing murder charges after allegedly performing illegal plastic surgery on a woman who later died.

People magazine said that Libby Adame and Alicia Galaz performed the surgery on 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul in their home in October 2019.

Rajpaul died on the same day from acute cardiopulmonary dysfunction and intravascular silicone injections and the death has been listed as a homicide.

She died at the hospital on the same day that the procedure was performed, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.

The mother and daughter were not the specialists they claimed to be.

“They were mixing them with chemicals and other substances that clearly are not appropriate for any medical procedure that would be performed on a human,” LAPD deputy chief Alan Hamilton told the news station ABC 7.

“These individuals have no medical training. They're not experienced and they're putting people's lives at risk.”

The mother and daughter were arrested on Aug. 5.

According to police, Rajpaul was a South African native who moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the adult film industry.
