A 27-year-old Saskatoon man faces several charges — including four counts of assaulting a police officer — after a stolen vehicle collided with two police vehicles, a third vehicle and then a house on Monday evening.
No one was seriously injured, Saskatoon police said in a media release on Tuesday.
Around 7:40 p.m., police received a report about a Ford Escape stolen from a business in the 2600 block of Avenue C North. Police used its GPS to track it to 33rd Street and Junor Avenue, where they tried unsuccessfully to use a tire deflation device.
The SUV was “erratically driven” to Confederation Drive, then to Clancy Drive, where it left the road and entered a park, the release said. It was then driven on Fairlight Drive, where police used a tire deflation device to disable two tires.
Police say the driver then drove the SUV back to the Avenue C North location, abandoned it and left with a stolen GMC cube van.
Both the SUV and then the cube van sustained damage from a third tire deflation device, police said.
The cube van struck two police vehicles, then another vehicle before hitting a house in the 800 block of Avenue S North, where a suspect was taken into custody, police said.
Police said they seized a knife.
A 27-year-old man faces charges of possession of stolen property, four counts of assaulting a police officer, dangerous driving, theft and breach of court conditions.
