Woman dead after crash near Kelowna

One person is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 97 near Kelowna.

Mounties say officers were called to a multi-vehicle collision near Ellison Lake between Kelowna and Lake Country at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

A green Chevrolet SUV heading southbound crossed the centre line and hit a black Dodge pickup heading northbound, Kelowna RCMP said. A grey Acura and an orange Toyota pickup were also hit.

A 30-year-old woman, a passenger in the SUV, died at the scene. The 36-year-old driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the other vehicles weren't seriously injured. Police are asking anyone who saw the crash, or has dashcam video or information, to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
