Wet weather prompts ERCA advisories

MARY CATON

The Essex Region Conservation Authority issued a flood watch and a shoreline conditions statement due to forecasted wind and rain over the next few days.

Winds averaging 35 kilometres per hour out of the south will affect the Lake Erie shoreline. Winds are expected to shift overnight and come from the north by early Wednesday morning. Winds at that speed and direction will affect the Lake St. Clair shoreline.

Winds are predicted to shift to out of the south-southwest overnight Wednesday and pick up speed Thursday evening reaching up to 40 km/h. The shoreline statement is in effect until Friday at 10 a.m.

Due to the potential for heavy rainfall, ERCA also issued a flood watch for the next two days. Current forecasts indicate storms bringing between 35-45 millimetres of rain Tuesday into Wednesday.
