Cop union kicks off 10th annual Cool 2Be Kind campaign

— Kevin King

A program designed to teach elementary school students the value of being kind to others has hit a decade of doing good.

The 10th annual Cool 2Be Kind campaign, created by the Winnipeg Police Association, is out to add to its total of 223 school Kindness projects with funding of more than $110,000.

Students and educators are invited to submit a

Kindness project proposal for their school for the chance at funding off $500 to see it come to life.

“We want young people to experience the power of kindness. Being kind to others benefits everyone and is a recipe for happiness and success in life,” WPA president Moe Sabourin said in a release. “As each school Kindness project is designed by students and educators to meet the specific needs of the students, it has a much greater chance of making an impact.”

Funding is provided by the WPA along with corporate sponsors.

Students and teachers from kindergarten to Grade 8 in city schools can find details and submit their proposal online at cool2bekind.ca.

The submission deadline is Dec. 31.
